Gearboxes A-Z is one of the first privately owned companies to specialise in commercial truck and bus gearboxes and differential repairs in South Africa. It specialises in drivetrain repairs and the supply of serviced exchange units for all makes of trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles.

The company started in 1979, with Andre Mills senior specialising in commercial truck, bus gearboxes and differentials. Working in his father’s workshop at MainStreet-Diesel in
Jeppe the company grew to be one of the leading gearbox repair centres in the country. In 2007 the business was bought by Andre Mills Jnr and moved to its current place of business
in Alberton Gauteng.

Faced with constantly rising costs, transport operators are eking out longer life on the vehicles they own and Andre says Gearboxes A-Z is specifically aimed at transportation
companies and OEM dealers that do not have an in house repair centre.

“We can help any person or organisation that is in need of our services that owns or runs their own trucking or bus fleet.

“We specialise in repairs to all European and Japanese manufacturers such as,ZF, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Hino, Iveco, DAF, UD, Volkswagen, Eaton, Volvo, Scania and Voith retarders.

“We also do clutch overhauls and supply clutch kits to customers. Gearboxes A-Z supply a full range of WABCO Reman gearbox ECUs and we offer programming for certain models. These are sold on a service exchange basis and are suitable to DAF, MAN and Iveco Commercial and PSV vehicles.”

However, it goes far beyond just having a stock of replacement parts to sell to customers and Andre says: “I have spent countless hours researching and looking ahead to all
new products in the market to ensure we are getting the right suppliers so we can deliver a service and provide solutions to transporters at an affordable price.
