Our Story: Commercial Drivetrain Specialists Since 1977
Our roots go back to 1977, when Andre Mills Senior moved from earthmoving equipment repairs into commercial vehicle gearboxes and differentials. Starting as MainStreet Diesel in Jeppe, the business developed into a respected name in South Africa’s drivetrain repair industry.
In 2007, Andre Mills Junior acquired the business and relocated it to our current premises in Alberton, Gauteng. Today, Gearboxes A-Z continues that legacy, combining decades of mechanical experience with the diagnostic and electronic capabilities needed to support modern commercial vehicles.
Mechanical Expertise Meets Modern Diagnostics
Commercial drivetrain repairs demand an understanding of both mechanical components and electronic control systems. Our specialised diagnostics, control unit repairs and selected programming services complement our established gearbox, transmission, differential and retarder repair capabilities.
We work on European and Japanese trucks and buses, including MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Hino, Iveco, DAF, UD, Volkswagen, Volvo and Scania, as well as drivetrain components from manufacturers such as ZF, Eaton and Voith.
Our services also include clutch overhauls and clutch kit supply. We supply remanufactured WABCO gearbox electronic control units (ECUs) on a service exchange basis for compatible DAF, MAN and Iveco trucks and buses, with programming available for selected models.
For transport companies and dealerships without an in-house drivetrain repair facility, we provide specialist technical support backed by extensive practical experience.
